A Santa Clarita man was sentenced Aug. 10 to 100 years to life in state prison for killing his wife and his sister in 2013, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

A judge found Lance Anderson, 63, of Santa Clarita's Canyon Country, guilty of two counts of first-degree murder for killing Bertha Maxine Anderson, 68, and Lisa Florence Nave, 59. Gun allegations were also found true.

According to testimony during the four-day trial, Anderson fatally shot his wife in their home. Later that day, Anderson killed his sister at a North Hills nursing facility, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors argued in court that Anderson tried to control both women and, in an ultimate form of control, killed them both.
