Francisco Amaro Jr., a 30-year-old Latino, was shot and killed on Monday, April 10, in the 6600 block of Hereford Drive in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before he was shot, Amaro had been inside the home he shared with his parents and siblings, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza. Amaro got into a brief argument with some family members and left the house on foot, Mendoza said.

Moments later, at 8:36 p.m., residents heard a gunshot to the west of Amaro’s home and found him lying on the sidewalk two houses away.

Amaro was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:45 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Investigators don’t have any suspect information or a motive for the shooting, Mendoza said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
