Pedro Morales, a 24-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Saturday, July 7, in the 5300 block of Monte Vista Street in Highland Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
The shooting stemmed from a verbal disagreement between Morales, his brother and a gunman about 6:15 p.m., authorities said. The suspect fired off two shots.
Morales, who was shot in the upper torso, was pronounced dead at a local hospital, said LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman. His brother, whose name was not released, was in stable condition Sunday. He had been struck in the shoulder.
Police did not release information about the gunman but said the shooting appeared to be gang-related.
