Michael Rodriguez, a 23-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, July 20, in the 500 block of North Mission Road in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Rodriguez and a woman were standing on a street corner when they were shot at from a car, authorities said.
Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The woman was listed in critical condition at a hospital.
In connection with the case, the Los Angeles Police Department said officers are looking for two people in a dark Dodge Charger with temporary license plates.
Police are unsure if the shooting was gang-related, but an investigation is ongoing, officials said.
