Sergio Sanchez, 35

Sergio Sanchez, a 35-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, March 14, on the Roxford Street offramp of the westbound 210 Freeway in Sylmar, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Responding to a call of traffic obstruction, California Highway Patrol officers found Sanchez inside his Mitsubishi shortly before 1 a.m., according to a news release from the Los Angeles police department.

Sanchez was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:30 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

“Preliminary evidence tends to show this is a case of road rage,” Lt. Paul Vernon said in a police statement.  “Bullet impacts and glass fragments lead us to think the shooter fired at the victim from the victim’s side of the car.”

The CHP closed all westbound lanes of the 210 Freeway from the 118 Freeway around 3 a.m. to allow investigators to search for possible evidence. The closure was lifted at 5:34 a.m.

Anyone with information can call Det. Gretchen Schultz at (818) 838-9951. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
