Denice Roberts, a 53-year-old black woman, died Wednesday, Oct. 13.
According to preliminary information provided by the Los Angeles County coroner's office, Roberts was found bound and gagged with bruising to the neck. No location was reported by the coroner.
The Times contacted homicide investigators to get more details about Roberts' death, but was informed there had been a security hold placed on the case.
When officials deem a death to be high-profile or sensitive in nature, security holds are placed and no additional information is released to the public.
